What
is Convergence? "Convergence"
describes a networking environment where voice,
video, and data transmissions are integrated within a single, unified
system - often referred to as a
"MultiService Network". More specifically, this network
is based on Internet Protocol (IP) standards,
the same packet-based architecture that drives the Internet. A converged,
intelligent IP-based network
that integrates data, voice, and video provides the foundation for
an endless set of applications designed
to make people more productive and businesses more competitive -
all by increasing efficiency, saving time,
and reducing costs.
CETNetworks®’ vision
of convergence is to enable enterprises to create competitive advantage
through
a converged infrastructure, or support system. Such a converged
infrastructure will enable both a
reduction in total cost of ownership and the deployment of new applications
designed to exploit a single
protocol, and leverage a converged platform.
The quantum leap in making converged technologies a viable solution
for the small to medium sized
enterprise environment is the requirement of stable, scalable, and
reliable solutions capable of replacing
or augmenting traditional technologies. CETNetworks competitive
differentiation comes from extending
converged strategies throughout the client’s organization
– across channels, departments, and geographies –
and using that extension to leverage new business initiatives and
operational efficiencies.
Perhaps most importantly, by consolidating the separate networking
systems and services for voice, video
and data, convergence means an organization has only one cost-effective,
unified network infrastructure to
design, deploy, manage and support.
